As you already know the National Union of ASUU has been on Strike for 176days now.
While 99% of federal schools are required to join the strike, most state universities haven’t really joined the ASUU strike.
The reason is that the state Universities are governed by the state government and most state governments are fulfilling their obligations.
But that hasn’t been the case for Kaduna state, as the state varsity has been on a solidarity strike with the National body.
Reacting angrily to their decision, the state government had told them to stop the strike immediately or might all be sacked.
While a few lecturers bowed to the pressure from the government, many didn’t.
Consequently, the school was reopened and exams were conducted, with the Vice Chancellor supervising the students.
Now, the ASUU members in KASU through its Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Abdulkadir Muhammad, have called on the school management to cancel the exam or they will write a petition to the ICPC and NUC, Daily Trust reports.
“These theatrical exercises that the University management confused and referred to as examinations that are currently going on in KASU are characterised by non-coverage of courses outlines, incomplete lecture contact hours.
“Non-participation of lecturers who taught the courses in the setting of the examination questions and supervision, involvement of students in invigilation and non-moderation of questions papers, which are clear violations of the laid down rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations.
“Therefore, ASUU demands that all the so-called- examinations so far conducted be discarded in order to maintain and respect the scared system of evaluation in the university,” he said
Let’s wait for the response of the school management and their main Oga, Gov-name. Who knows, he might even sack all of them before they write the petition.
