Lady Smashes University’s 40-year Record, Becomes First to Graduate With Historic 5.0CGPA

Cursory: Aminat Imoitesemeh Yusuf has achieved an unprecedented feat by emerging as the Lagos State University (LASU) best-graduating student for the 2021/2022 academic session with a perfect CGPA of 5.0, breaking the University’s history since it’s establishment in 1983.

Aminat Imoitesemeh Yusuf, a student from Lagos State University (LASU), has left an indelible mark on the institution’s history by achieving a remarkable feat.

With an unwavering commitment to excellence, she emerged as the best-graduating student for the 2021/2022 academic session, securing a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.00 out of 5.00 CGPA.

This outstanding accomplishment, as announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, during a media briefing to mark the institution’s 26th convocation ceremony and 40th anniversary, has earned Aminat the well-deserved honor and a generous cash prize of Five Hundred Thousand Nigerian Naira (N500,000) from the university.

Praising the Progidy’s achievement, the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said her achievement is indeed commendable.

In Lagos, we value hard work, dedication and excellence. Congratulations to Aminat Yusuf, a law student at Lagos State University (LASU), for achieving a remarkable feat, being the first undergraduate in 40 years to obtain a CGPA of 5.0. This is truly commendable! Your dedication and hard work have paid off,” he tweeted.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University also highlighted the remarkable achievement of Lopez Feyisayo Divine from the Department of Physiology, who attained a remarkable CGPA of 4.91 and was recognized as the best-graduating student for the 2020/2021 academic session.

These exceptional individuals, along with the commendable 282 first-class students in the two academic sessions, will be officially celebrated and honored during the upcoming convocation ceremony on June 21, 2023.

The Vice Chancellor extended her congratulations to the families and departments of these exceptional graduates, highlighting that the number of first-class honors is the highest in the institution’s 40-year history.
