Federal government reveals line of action after court order to ASUU

CURSORY: The federal government has revealed that it will direct Vice chancellors to reopen private universities after the court order issued to ASUU.

Recall that the industrial court had issued an order to the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) yesterday mandating them to end their 8 months long strike.

The union had also revealed yesterday that it will reject the order and appeal the order.

The federal government however, has revealed that it will direct Vice Chancellors to reopen public universities in compliance with the order given by the National Industrial Court on Wednesday, September 21.

Senator Chris Ngige, the minister of labour and employment, stated this on Wednesday when he received members of the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) in his office, Vanguard reported.

“The government would order the Vice Chancellors to reopen the universities in compliance with the order,” he said.
