The former Senator, Shehu Sani, has mocked Nigerian students who are dying to study abroad, that it’s better they stay in their country than to travel and face racism or war.
The senator advised them on Twitter in response to the current spat between Russia and Ukraine and the federal government’s request to evacuate Nigerian students in the nation which the Ukraine president said the sky is not safe for them to return back home.
In his post, Shehu Sani stated that “Those who are dying to study abroad; Stay at home and get into a federal or state university;it’s better to hustle with ASUU than war and racism.”
In response to his tweet, Nigerians shared their view on his post, below are some of the tweets:
@Onyi Esiaka :”War and racism doesn’t happen everyday like ASUU and the war going on in Nigeria every day. What’s the difference between racism and tribalism in Nigeria against ndi Igbo? You won’t know how living or going to school in Nigeria is because of you social status. Nigeria is at war.”
@Aisha Rodrigo: “Not every state abroad is at war but every state in Nigeria has ASUU, a retrogressive education system and corruption. Rethink this advice please.”
@Eric The Great: “Insensitive and pointless opinion. So after they battle with ASUU and finish, what opportunities are waiting for them? If you go overseas, there are so many opportunities. Yes there are risks, but what about the insecurity situation in the North and even South?”
