In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??

We contacted JAMB and ask them to define “Special Consideration” they said it mean “Candidates with Issues”. If you have registered your JAMB before coming across this page, then there are chances you didn’t choose the correct subject combination. If so the you’re in the category of Special consideration , some schools have a different requirement for their prospective students. These requirement are in the special consideration column. We will show you their special consideration.

Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course.

UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR EDUCATION AND ISLAMIC STUDIES

Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for Education and Islamic Studies;

  • English Language(*),Islamic Studies/Arabic and two (2) other Social Science or Arts subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  •  LAGOS requires any three (3) of Islamic Studies and any two (2) of Literature-in-English, History/Government, French/Arabic, Geography, Mathematics, Yoruba/Igbo, Christian Religious Studies, Economics/Commerce.
  • TASUED requires any three (3) subjects from Arts/Social Science.
  • MAIDUGURI requires  Islamic Studies and two (2) subjects from Arts.
  • UMYUK requires Islamic Studies and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
  • ILORIN requires Islamic studies and any other two (2) arts subjects.
  • ABU requires Use of English, Islamic Studies and any other two arts or social science subjects

UTME/JAMB REQUIREMENT FOR EDUCATION AND ISLAMIC STUDIES

Below is the UTME Requirement for Education and Islamic Studies;

  • Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Islamic Studies and three (3) other relevant subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  •  ABU requires NCE with a minimum of ‘C’ grade in Islamic Studies and Education. IJMB with a minimum of ‘E’ grade in all the three subjects including I.R.S. ABU Diploma in Islamic Studies with a minimum of Merit Pass. ND in Islamic Studies from any Institution with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  • OOU does not accept Social Science subjects.
  • LAGOS requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies (Isla and two (2) of Literature in English, any Nigerian Language, History/Government, French/Arabic, Economics/Commerce, Civic Education/Social Studies.
  • LASU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
  • ABUJA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or its equivalent to include Mathematics, English Language, Arabic/Islamic Studies and two (2) other relevant Arts subjects.
  • UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC, HIS or SIS in English Language, Mathematics,  Islamic Studies and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects at not more than two sittings.
  • TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language and   other subjects in Arts/ Social Science.
  • EDKANO requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Arabic.
  • ILORIN accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level, GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB/ SIS/Equivalent credit Passes in English Language, Mathematics and any other two Arts subjects.  Diploma candidates must have credits in English Language, Islamic Studies and other three Arts subjects.

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR EDUCATION AND ISLAMIC STUDIES

Below is the DIRECT ENTRY (DE) Requirement for Education and Islamic Studies;

  •  NCE merit in Islamic Studies and Education.
  • ‘A’ level passes in Arabic/ Islamic Studies and any other relevant subject

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • ABU accepts NCE with a minimum of ‘C’ grade in Islamic Studies and Education. IJMB with a minimum of ‘E’ grade in all the three subjects including I.R.S. ABU Diploma in Islamic Studies with a minimum of Merit Pass. ND in Islamic Studies from any Institution with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  • GSU accepts combined Diploma in Hausa, Arabic and Islamic Studies.
  • EDZAR requires three (3) NCE/’A’ Level passes including Islamic Studies. Admission is by Direct Entry only.
    Also requires credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects which should include Islamic studies and a credit pass in Mathematics.
    Accepts NCE in Islamic Studies combination with any other subject with ‘C’ grade including Education.
  • UMYUK accepts candidates with 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level in Islamic Studies and any other relevant subject. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit pass in Diploma in Islamic Education from recognized institutions may also be admitted.
  • TASUED accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit in Islamic Studies and other Arts or Social Science subjects. Diploma in Arabic/Islamic Studies from recognised institutions is also accepted.
  • EDKANO; candidates must obtain not less than eight (8) points in NCE.
  • LAGOS accepts
    (a)  NCE credit/merit in Islamic Studies.
    (b)  very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects: Islamic Studies and any two(2)of Government/History, Literature in English, French, Yoruba/Igbo and Economics.
    (c) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant teaching subjects.
    (e) Candidate must satisfy the UTME requirements.
  • ILORIN accepts NCE in Islamic Studies and one Arts Subject; Diploma in Islamic Studies with at least Lower credit.  Two A/L Passes to include Islamic Studies.
