This page will show you the list of Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu, LASPOTECH Part-time courses for both weekend, Regular and Daily programmes. This is for both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND).

We will also show you the entry requirements, and specific requirements for the part-time courses.

First, we want to start by telling you that the duration for LASPOTECH part-time programmes is 6 semester (i.e 3 years) and its applicable to both ND and HND applicants.

Also its important to know the meaning of these:

• SPTS-D: It means School of Part-Time Studies-Day. Your lecture will be Monday to Friday from 9am – 2pm. You will spend 3 semester in a year for 2years. You will pay sch fees 3times. For more details feel free to call 08023612901.
• SPTS-E: It means School of Part-Time Studies-Evening. Your lecture will be Monday to Friday from 2pm – 6pm. You will spend 3 semester in a year for 2years.
• SPTS-R: It means School of Part-Time Studies-Regular. Your lecture will be Saturdays and Sundays from 9am – 5pm. You will spend 3 semester in a year for 2years.

General Entry Requirements for LASPOTECH Part-Time Courses

National Diploma (ND) Programmes

SSCE or WASCE or GCE ‘O’ Level or NECO or NABTEB with at least 5 Credits obtained at not more 
than 2 sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects related  to the programme of study.

Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes

1. Candidates are required to satisfy SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB entry requirements for the corresponding National Diploma programme.
2. Candidates are required to have completed a relevant National Diploma Programme not below LOWER CREDIT classification.
3. Candidates are required to have at least one year post- ND industrial work experience.

Requirements for Mature Candidates

Candidates with lower qualifications than the ones stated above but with at least three (3) relevant Credits and two (2) Passes could be considered for admission, provided such candidates are not below the age of 40 years and have a minimum of 15 years work experience at a SUPERVISORY LEVEL

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 5 credits at one sitting, which must include:  English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following: Economics/Commerce, , Business Methods/Business Studies/Business Management, Accounts/ Book Keeping, Literature in English, Typewriting, Shorthand,  Statistics, Geography, History/Government/Civic Education, Biology/Agricultural Science/General Agriculture, Office Practice, Insurance/Marketing, Computer Studies/Data Processing, Physics, Chemistry. OR:

NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at one  sitting, which must include: Mathematics & English Language and any three from the following:
(a). GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO Subjects from the following)
Economics/ Commerce, Physics/ Chemistry, Government, Lit. in English, Social  Studies and  Biology

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT 
NABTEB: With at least 5 credits at two sitting, which must include: English Language and  Mathematics  and any other three from the following:
(a). GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( TWO Subjects form the following)
Principles of Account/ Book Keeping, Economics/ Commerce, Physics/ Chemistry, Government/ Social  Studies, Mathematics, Lit. in English and  Biology/ Agricultural Science.
(b)TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the       following)
Shorthand, Typewriting, Office Practice  and Information Communication Technology,

SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION & LIBERAL STUDIES

( i)    MASS COMMUNICATION
SSCE or WASCE O’level or NECO with at least five (5) credits at one sitting, which must include: English Language, and Mathematics  and any other three subjects from: History, Literature in English, Economics/Commerce, Fine Arts/Visual Arts/Printing Craft Practice/Photography/Basic Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work/Electronics, Government/Civic Education/Social Studies,  Biology/Agricultural Science/General Agriculture, Physics, Chemistry, Basic Electricity, Geography, Typewriting, Book Keeping/ Principles of Accounting, Nigerian Language (Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo) and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades..
Passes in Physics/ Electronics/ Basic Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work/Electronics will be an advantage.

3. SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY

(i)     COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five (5) credits at one sitting,  which must include Mathematics, English Language,  a basic science, and any two other subjects chosen from the following: , Economics/Commerce,Geography, Chemistry, Further/Additional Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, History/Government/Civic Education/Social Studies, Typewriting Biology/Agricultural Science/ General Agriculture, Data Processing/Computer Studies.   A Pass in Physics/ Basic Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work/Electronics,  is compulsory for Computer Science and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.
 OR
NABTEB: With at least five credits at one sitting, which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics/ Basic Electronics and two subjects from the following: Biology, Chemistry, and General Metal Work.

(ii)       FOOD TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with a minimum of five credits at two sittings, which must include English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science/ General Agriculture/ Health Science and any one subject from: Physics/ Basic Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work/Electronics, Economics/ Commerce, Additional/Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Home Economics/Home Management/ Food and Nutrition, Geography Plus at least pass in Physics/ Basic Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Work/Electronics and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.

(iii)     HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits  at two sittings, which must include: Biology/Agricultural Science/General Agriculture/Health Science, Mathematics, English Language and any two of  the following: Physics, Chemistry, Government/Civic Education/Social Studies, Economics/Commerce, Food and Nutrition/Catering Craft Practice/Home Management/ Home Economics, Geography, French Language, Book Keeping/ Principles of Accounts, Business Methods/Business Management.

 OR 
NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Food & Nutrition/Basic Cookery and any other one  subject from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Basic Electronics and Home Management.

4.     SCHOOL OF PURE AND APPLIED TECHNOLOGY
(i)    SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics, English Language and two subjects from Physics, Biology/ Health Science/ Agricultural Science/General Agriculture, Chemistry and one other subject from Technical Drawing, Metal or Wood-Work, Geography, Further Mathematics, Fine Art/Visual Art, Computer Studies/Data Processing. At least a Pass in each of the three basic sciences i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics is required and relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.

5.         SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
(i )        BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credits at two sittings which must include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two of the following: Economics/Commerce, Further Mathematics, Woodwork, Religious Knowledge, Metal Work, Technical Drawing/Fine Art/Visual Arts, Biology/Agricultural Science/General Agriculture, Chemistry, Geography, and Building Construction.
A Pass in Fine Art/Visual Arts/Technical Drawing will be an advantage.  OR

BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
NABTEB: With at least five credit at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics and two subjects from the following:

1. GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( ONE Subjects form the following)

Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Agricultural Science, Economics/ Commerce, Fine Art,/ Technical Drawing, Geography.

1. TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the following)

Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry & Joinery, Furniture Craft Practice, Painting & Decoration, General Wood Work, Machine Wood Creating.

(ii)    ESTATE MANAGEMENT AND VALUATION
SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’level or NECO with at least five credit at two sittings,  which must include Mathematics, English Language and at least a basic science subject from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology,  and any two subjects from  the following: Geography, Economics/ Commerce, Principle of Accounts / Book Keeping, Literature in English, Metal Work, Wood Work, Government/Civic Education, Fine Art/Visual Arts, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.
OR
NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include English, Mathematics and one basic science from Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and two subjects from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Economics, Building Engineering Drawing, and Principles of Accounts and Agricultural Science.

6.         SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

(i).      COMPUTER ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(ii)      CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(iii)     CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
(iv)     ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

SSCE or WASCE or GCE O’ level or NECO with at least five  credit at two sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry  and one subject from: Biology/Agricultural Science/General Agriculture,  Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/ Electronics/Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works/ Basic Electricity/Applied Electricity /Auto Electrical Works/Auto Mechanics Work/Auto Mechanics/Metal Work, Building Construction, Woodwork (for Civil Engineering Technology), Computer Studies/Data Processing, Further Mathematics, Economics/ Commerce, Geography. Food & Nutrition and at least a pass in Chemistry and Biology/ Agricultural Science/ General Agriculture are Compulsory.
(i)         NABTEB REQUIREMENTS:
            a) CIVIL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY

1. COMPUTER ENGINEERING   

(c ) ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
At least five credits at two sittings, which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics and Chemistry and one subject from the following.
TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the following)
Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto-Mechanics, Block Laying & Concreting, Carpentry & Joinery, Furniture Craft Practice, Domestic & Industrial Installations, Cable Jointing & Battery Charging, Winding of Electrical Machines and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.

(d)    MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
NABTEB   With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include Mathematics, English Language, Physics and one other subject  from the following:

1. GENERAL EDUCATION COMPONENT( ONE Subjects form the following)

Chemistry,  General Woodwork, Basic Electronics, and Building/Engineering Drawing.

1. TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the     following)

General Metal Work, Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice, Fabrication & Welding, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Work, Foundry Craft Practice,  Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.

e).   CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
NABTEB: With at least five credits at two sittings, which must include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry and one subject from the following:
TRADE COMPONENT/TRADE RELATED COMPONENTS( ONE Subject from the following)
General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Basic Electronics, Biology, Building Engineering/Drawing and Relevant NTC/NBC & NVC Trades.
