Tunde Onakoya, Chess In Slum Africa founder, has recalled one of the sacrifices his father made to see that he got proper education while growing up.
The techpreneur revealed that his dad sold the car he was using for taxi business in order to pay his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees before the deadline.
Onakoya went down memory lane on Father’s Day in response to a tweet that asked people to share stories of their father’s act of selflessness.

He wrote; ”My Dad sold the car he used as a Taxi so I could pay my WAEC examination fee on deadline day.
“It was an incredibly painful sacrifice because this affected him to a point where he had to leave Lagos and go back to the village to work in a bakery.”
In another post, Tunde revealed that even though he isn’t a father yet, he received lots of “happy father’s day” celebration.
In his words: “I don’t have any biological children of my own yet but everyone keeps sending me the sweetest father’s day messages
“I sometimes have to play a fatherly role in the lives of so many children, it’s a responsibility and a blessing i do not take for granted.“
