The lady named Onome Etim mentioned she got had earlier got rejection mail from Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust, a UK-based scholarship body that offers a helping hand to less privileged students wishing to study abroad.
She said she was shocked as around one month later, she received an email from the same body notifying her of he admittance into a fully funded scholarship in the UK.
In her LinkedIn post, she wrote:
“About 5 months ago, I received my last scholarship rejection mail. I felt a mix of emotions, and content was not one. I had already accepted the reality of beginning another round of applications when God said No.
“Exactly one month following that rejection mail, I woke up to an offer from the same scholarship team. By the special grace of God, I am currently pursuing an MPH in international development at one of UK’s Russel Group schools, fully funded by the prestigious Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust.”
Onome has however promised to help others as a way of giving back.
“To give back, I will be reviewing application essays for 3 grad school applicants. I will also make myself available to them for emotional support, and guidance throughout their application process. If you know anyone who needs this, kindly refer. I’m more than happy to help”
Her story which is no doubt inspiring has received positive reactions from her followers many of whom have said determination and resilience always pay off with one of them identified as Peter-Cole C. wrote
“This is really beautiful and inspiring Onome! Resilience is indeed powerful. It’s not easy to keep going against the odds, but there’s nothing to lose from trying again and everything to lose from giving up. Thank you for not giving up. May the days ahead be laden with more success and victories. Cheers”
