In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??

It means, additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school. If your school have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, then please take note of it.

Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course. ITS NECESSARY else you might be denied admission.

JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course.

Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Library and Information Science under the Faculty of Sciences are; Mathematics, Physics and one (1) of Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  •  BAUCHI requires Mathematics, Economics and any one Science subject.
  • AUN accepts any subject combination which includes Mathematics and any two (2) of Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.
  • ABSU requires five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and one Science subject.
  • FED-LAFIA requires any three (3) subjects.

O’Level (UTME) Requirements

The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Library and Information Science;

You require;Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two (2) other Science subjects

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  •  ABSU requires one Science subject from Biology/Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, one   Commercial subject and any other subject.
  • BELLS requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Physics plus any other subject.
  • AUN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) of the following: Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing. Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.
  • FED-LAFIA requires Five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three (3) other relevant Arts/Sciences/Social Sciences.

Direct Entry Requirements for Library and Information Science

Direct Entry Candidates require;

  • Two A/L passes in science subjects including Mathematics .
  • NCE Merit in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • IMSU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics any other Science subject.
  • DELSU requires credit passes in English Language and Mathematics.
  • AUN
    a.  accepts ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Mathematics, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Literature in English, Government, History, Economics, Geography, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, Computer Studies, Information Technology, Civics, and French.
    b. does not accept credit passes in the following: Agriculture, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Home Craft, Home management, Physical Education, Physical and Health Education, Music, Commerce, Accounting, Financial Accounting, Book keeping, Islamic History, Religious Studies, Tajweed, Library Studies, Diction, Kiswahili, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Arabic, Turkish, Study skills.
    c. accepts ICGSE and ‘A’ Level Cambridge and does not offer admissions direct to 200 level programme. May transfer credits relevant to its major at the discretion of the Dean of School.
  • FED-LAFIA accepts ‘A’ Level passes in science subjects including Mathematics.NCE merit in Mathematics and one (1) other Science or Social Science subject.Diploma/ND in Library and Information Science with upper credit/merit.
